This article breaks down the Skyprene Adhesive Applications series into three primary categories—General-Purpose, Heat Resistant (Carboxylated), and Eco-Friendly—to assist formulators in optimizing adhesive performance.     1.General-Purpose Grades: Balancing Crystallization Rate and Viscosity General-purpose grades are classified primarily by their crystallization speed and Mooney viscosity, which directly govern green strength, open time (tack retention time), and sprayability. Fast Crystallization Grades (G-Series) High Initial Strength & Spraying Performance: Grades such as G-40S, G-40S-1, G-40T, G-70, G-41H, G-42, G-55, and G-66 offer rapid strength development. Specialized Functional Varieties: Low Viscosity Spraying: SKYPRENE G-42 features lower Mooney viscosity (36-48), making it an ideal base for sprayable formulations. MMA Grafting: G-40S-1 is engineered for MMA-grafted adhesives, specifically targeting soft PVC and synthetic leather bonding with minimal solution coloration. Improved Mastication: G-41H utilizes a thiram-stabilized system, facilitating easier mastication and superior phase-separation resistance. Crosslinking & Rheology Control: G-55 exhibits higher reactivity toward isocyanates, while G-66 provides higher thixotropy and reduced solution fluidity for anti-sagging applications. Medium Crystallization Grades (Y-Series) Versatile Processing: Y-30S, Y-30H, Y-30HA, and Y-31 offer a balanced crystallization rate, allowing for longer tack retention compared to the G-series while maintaining good heat resistance. Viscosity Hierarchy: Ranging from Y-31 (Mooney 90-110, lower viscosity) to Y-30HA (high solution viscosity up to 1900-2600mPa·s, these grades allow formulators to tune solid content and rheology. Crystallization-Resistant Grades (B-Series) Extended Open Time: SKYPRENE B-30S, B-31, B-10, and B-5 exhibit slow crystallization or non-crystallizing behavior. Tack Retention Modifiers: B-5 and B-10 are primarily used as blending modifiers to extend the tack retention time of faster-crystallizing bases without compromising ultimate flexibility.   2. Heat Resistant Grades: Carboxylated CR Polymers For high-temperature applications (such as automotive interiors or structural laminates exceeding 80℃, carboxylated grades - 510, 510L, 570, 580, and 580H—are recommended. Eco-Friendly Grades: Toluene-Free Formulation Stability To comply with environmental regulations reducing aromatic solvents (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene - BTX), formulators must transition toward mixed solvent systems (e.g., Cyclohexane, Ethyl Acetate, Normal Hexane, Acetone). However, replacing toluene often induces phase separation during storage. To resolve this issue, Eco-Friendly grades were developed: Y-30SN, Y-30SAN, Y-30HAN, and G-40TN. Storage Stability Comparison Standard SKYPRENE Y-30S in Toluene-Free Solvent: Shows clear phase separation after 1 month of storage at 23℃. Eco Grade Y-30SN in Toluene-Free Solvent: Demonstrates zero phase separation even after 3 months of storage at 23℃, maintaining complete solution homogeneity.     Chloroprene Rubber (CR, commonly referred to as Neoprene) is widely specified across demanding industrial rubber applications due to its balanced combination of tensile strength, oil resistance, thermal stability, and weatherability. However, selecting the optimal CR grade requires aligning chemical modification types and raw polymer viscosity with processing methods and cold-weather endurance requirements.     1. General-Purpose Grades Skyprene general-purpose grades are mercaptan-modified polymers offering excellent mechanical strength, oil and weather resistance, and dynamic resilience. SKYPRENE B-30 (Standard Baseline): Featuring a medium Mooney viscosity (ML1+4 100℃ = 49), B-30 offers balanced physical properties (Tensile Strength Ta = 23.1 MPa, Elongation Ea = 390%) and good storage stability. Ideal for molded parts, belts, and industrial hoses. SKYPRENE B-31 (Low Viscosity, High Flowability): A low-viscosity variant (ML1+4 = 42) of B-30. Lower Mooney viscosity reduces frictional heat generation during mill mixing, improving dimensional stability and processing speed in extrusion, injection, and high-speed calendering. SKYPRENE Y-30S & Y-31 (High Viscosity & Ultra-High Filler Loadings): Y-30S possesses an exceptionally high Mooney viscosity (ML1+4 = 127). It permits compounding with high volume fractions of carbon black/fillers and process oils without compromising tensile strength (23.8 MPa), drastically reducing formulation costs. Y-31 (ML1+4 = 100) provides improved processability and fluidity over Y-30S, making both grades premier choices for high-strength solvent-based industrial adhesives. SKYPRENE P-90 (Xanthogen-Modified): Xanthogen-modified grade providing elevated mechanical modulus and higher tensile strength (26.0 MPa). Its crystallization rate is slightly faster than B-30, allowing rapid green strength development for dynamic high-load applications.   2. Crystallization-Resistant Grades Under sub-zero operational temperatures, standard CR polymers tend to undergo molecular alignment (crystallization), resulting in physical hardening and elasticity loss. Crystallization-resistant grades introduce structural irregularity into the polymer chain to suppress crystal growth. SKYPRENE B-5 & B-5A (Extreme Cold Endurance): B-5 and B-5A offer superior resistance to crystallization. B-5A exhibits the lowest permanent set at -10℃ (7%, compared to 36% for B-30), ensuring zero hardening and optimal sealing pressure in sub-zero operational environments. SKYPRENE B-10, B-10H, B-11, B-12 (Graded Resistance) : Positioned between B-30 and B-5 in crystallization rate. Compounders can select specific Mooney viscosities ranging from B-12 (ML = 39) for easy molding, B-10/B-11 (ML = 46-52) for standard processing, up to B-10H (ML = 70) for high structural green strength. SKYPRENE B-25 (High Elongation): Balances medium crystallization resistance with superior tensile elongation (410%), ideal for flexible boots, bellows, and seals operating in cold climates.   3. Injection Molding Grades Automated rubber injection molding demands low mold fouling, zero premature scorch in hot runners, fast mold filling, and smooth part demolding. Low Mold Staining & High Flowability: SKYPRENE TSR-41, TSR-42, TSR-44: Low Mooney viscosity variants (ML1+4 = 44-48) engineered for thin-walled or multi-cavity injection molds. They prevent premature vulcanization while offering maximum cavity fill speed and drastically reducing mold cleaning downtime. Enhanced Scorch Safety & Dynamic Resilience: SKYPRENE TSR-44: Delivers an extended Mooney scorch time (t5 = 10.6 min), allowing long residence times in injection barrels without thermal degradation or pre-curing.   4. Extrusion Grades Extruded profile seals, continuous rubber hoses, cable jacketing, and sponge profiles require high green strength to prevent cross-sectional deformation before vulcanization. SKYPRENE Y-20E & E-33 (High Flowability & Surface Finish): Y-20E offers the ultimate extrusion flow performance and is frequently blended with B-10 or B-30 to fine-tune extrusion speeds. E-33 is a xanthogen-modified extrusion grade providing excellent calendering and extrudability combined with high tensile strength (22.6 MPa). SKYPRENE E-20, E-20H, 630, 640 (Collapse Resistance & Viscosity Control): E-20 (ML = 47) and E-20H (ML = 62) feature improved cold crystallization resistance. Grade 630 utilizes an ultra-high Mooney viscosity (ML = 110) to provide maximum resistance to dimensional deformation under continuous steam/hot-air vulcanization. Grade 640 (ML = 81) is a mercaptan-modified variant providing intermediate Mooney viscosity balance.   5. Sulfur-Modified Grades Sulfur-modified grades contain reactive polysulfide links (-Sx-) along their polymer backbones. Compounding shear stresses cleave these bonds (peptization), enabling unique chemical properties unachievable with mercaptan grades. Key Technical Advantages: Superior Dynamic Strength & Toughness: R-22 and R-10 exhibit exceptional tear strength and high ultimate elongation (490%), making them suitable for severe dynamic stress applications like drive belts and rubber linings.
